What’s the secret of building online communities? At the Making Media Connections Conference today, expert Beth Kanter says there are three R’s:
1. Relationship-building.
This means making person-to-person connections, she stresses, not just sending broadcasts or press releases.
2. Rewards.
Acknowledge member contributions with rewards and build in more, Beth encourages.
3. Reciprocity.
Don’t just take, but give back to create “social capital.”
