Growing Advertising Revenues in Social Networks
Those using the ad model as a business model for their social network will be thrilled to learn that, according to eMarketer’s recent post Social Network Ad Revenues to Hit $10 Billion in 2013:
“Global social network ad revenues will hit $5.5 billion this year and then top $10 billion by 2013, according to eMarketer.
The bulk of those revenues are going toward Facebook with Twitter in second place. LinkedIn, meanwhile, will snag 3% of global social network ad revenues, with $140.8 million.”
Ad Model as a Business Model
Social networks look to many sources of revenue. Typical business models include the ad model, freemium model, and membership model. And there are many other ancillary and specialized revenue sources. But the ad model, which includes text and banner ads, affiliate ads, and sponsorships, is a popular one for social networking websites.
